During the "early years" of McSwain Guitars, Stephen would work his way back stage at almost every show that came through Charlotte, NC and show his guitars to anyone that would spare 5 minutes.
At a Living Colour show, Vernon Reid took an interest and began sketching ideas onto a white cloth napkin. He wanted a desert-like scape with an M.C. Escher-type castle with staircases leading nowhere, ancient pyramids and windswept dunes all carved into the mahogany body. You get the picture...
More recently, Vernon took on a custom McSwain Black Flag that he named "Tuskegee" and can be seen on the road anywhere Vernon is touring these days.
