How to Order a Custom Build
The current waitlist for new orders is approximately 1-2 months. To reserve a slot in our build schedule, you can make a $250 deposit below. You will receive an email confirmation from us on the build slot reservation followed by a follow-up phone consultation to finalize your desired model and specs.
You do not need to know your exact model or specs at the time of the deposit as we can talk through with you as part of our build process prior to commencing work. As a small builder, we understand the absolute importance of client expectations on the timing of delivery so we adhere to a strict scheduling protocol to ensure we can deliver on time.

We make a very limited quantity of custom electric guitars each year so every client we work is viewed as a highly important, lifelong relationship. The clients put their trust in our craftsmanship and we owe it to every customer to sweat the details and deliver the best possible handmade product.
We ship all guitars with high-end, beautiful cases from the G&G Quality Case Co. and ready to rock with clear-sounding, long-lasting treated strings from Cleartone, both made in the U.S.A.
Where can I try one?
We have several ways you can play your McSwain Guitar as part of your purchasing process.
1) Portland, OR Showroom. We always have some killer models in house to play and purchase. Plus, you get to see the build process in action! Shoot us an e-mail or give us a shout for an appointment.
2) Road Show. Throughout the year, we plan to be in a number of major cities showcasing our models and meeting with clients new and old. We will announce these events via our e-mail list and Facebook page from time to time and would love for you to come join us when we hit your city!
3) McSwain Ambassadors. In select cities, we have "McSwain Ambassadors" who are close friends, associates and often clients of McSwain Guitars. Our regional Ambassadors typically have 2-3 models on hand to show to prospective clients on our behalf for test driving and/or buying. Shoot us an e-mail to find out if there is a McSwain Ambassador near you and which models they have on hand.
4) Try before you buy. See a model on our site that you love but want to try first? No problem, we take reservations on a first-come, first-serve basis for all of our unreserved new builds to try out for one week. Contact us for more details on our Try Before you Buy program.
